The Dell community on adding a hard drive,

The Dell 3650 does not have extra power connectors for addons.
The Dell 3650 uses a non standard SATA power connection.
After a week, 8 hours of my time, in over 10 phone/chat sessions, “I can’t help you, why don’t you try …”
I have distilled what to do to this:
First,see this document:
Go to Page 13 system board components
See item 2 – drive power cable sata and item 4 – primary hard drive data cable
Note 2 is power 3 by 3 pin, non standard
See item 6 – sata hard drive data cable connector
See 7 – sames as 2, non standard sata power
Buy a 2.5 internal hard drive and a sata data cable
Order the Hard drive bracket Dell Part # X9FV3, see page 39 for a description
Get this sata power cable it may be either:
Item Number WTYCC ASSY, CBL,SATA,PSS,OPTI,3656/5
or
Item Number KC81G ASSY, CBL,SATA,PWR,3.5HD/ODD,MT
It would be nice if Dell provide an actual part number we could order. The above part numbers are not standard. You can’t get them through Dell accessories or spare parts. Have Dell Technical support order them for you
Make your connections, Plug and Pray should recognize the drive, check BIOS F2, follow normal windows steps to format and assign a drive letter. Proof that it works
Good Luck. If you use a splitter, make sure it has got at least one long leg to the devices sata power connector cable.
